What Garbage Disposal Installation Involves

Garbage disposal installation mounts a grinding unit under the kitchen sink and connects it to the drain system and, in most setups, the dishwasher drain hose. The mounting assembly attaches to the sink flange. The discharge tube connects to the P-trap and then to the drain arm in the wall. If a dishwasher is present, the knockout plug gets removed and the drain hose connects to the inlet on the disposal body.

We handle the full scope, including the electrical connection. The cost depends on whether the job is a straightforward swap or a first-time install with new mounting hardware, drain rerouting, and electrical work. We provide a written estimate before starting. Most disposals plug into a switched outlet under the sink, and that outlet should have GFCI protection.

If an old disposal is in place, we disconnect and remove it. We mount the new unit, connect the discharge to the trap, tie in the dishwasher drain if applicable, and test for leaks at every joint. A lot of Las Vegas homes have hard water buildup inside the drain arm and trap that slows flow before the new disposal even gets used. We clear that out during the install so the drain path is clean from the start.
