SEER2 measures cooling efficiency. The federal minimum for Las Vegas is 15 SEER2 for split systems. Systems rated 18 SEER2 and above are considered high-efficiency. Minimum SEER2 requirements vary by system type and capacity in the Southwest region.
HSPF2 measures heat pump heating efficiency. Higher is better.

That is what the load calculation answers. Square footage is part of it, but insulation, windows, ceiling height, and sun exposure all factor in. A 3-ton system might be right for one 2,000 square foot home and too small for another.

Usually, yes. Matched systems run more efficiently and last longer. If one component is significantly newer, it might make sense to keep it. We will look at both and give you an honest answer.

Not always. If the existing ducts are in good condition and properly sized, we leave them alone. But if they are leaking, crushed, or undersized (and that is common in older Las Vegas homes) replacing or modifying them is the right move.

Both work well here. Heat pumps handle Las Vegas winters efficiently because cold nights rarely drop below the mid-30s. If you want to cut gas heating costs, a heat pump is the better choice. If you prefer gas heat, a traditional split system with a furnace works fine.
