What Repiping Actually Means
Repiping replaces some or all of the water supply pipes in your home with new materials. Instead of chasing leaks one at a time, you replace the whole system—or the sections causing problems—with pipes that won’t fail for decades.
This is different from pipe repair, which fixes individual damaged spots. Repiping makes sense when:
- Your pipes are old and failing in multiple locations
- The pipe material itself is the problem (galvanized steel, polybutylene)
- Repairs keep adding up and costing more than replacement
- You want to upgrade your plumbing before selling your home
