What Happens When Your Pressure Tank Starts Acting Up

Last month, a family over in Spring Valley called us because their water just stopped. They’d turn on the tap and get barely anything. Turns out their pressure tank was shot, and they didn’t even know what it was. That’s pretty common around here – most folks don’t think about their pressure tank til something goes wrong.

Your pressure tank is basically the middleman between your water source and your house. When it’s working right, you don’t even notice it. But when it starts failing, you’ll know real quick. You might hear your pump turning on and off constantly (we call that short cycling), or maybe your water pressure drops to a trickle.

We see a lot of pressure tank problems in Las Vegas because of the heat and hard water. The extreme temperatures mess with the tank’s ability to maintain proper air pressure. A failing tank doesn’t just make life annoying – it can wreck your pump if you let it go too long.

Our guys handle these repairs every day and can usually tell what’s wrong pretty fast. Sometimes it’s just recharging the air or replacing a valve. Other times, especially with older tanks, it’s smarter to put in a new one. Either way, we’ll get your water pressure back to normal.
